Thank You, O’ Lord – Dave-Michael Valentine

Thank You, O’ Lord

Thank You, O’ Lord for meeting us here

Let not Your Spirit go forth to the air

Let Your Spirit so free, devour me

That others through me, You they might see

Lord, God, as we go and leave this place

Let others know, and see Your Face.

Thank You, O’ Lord for meeting us here

Let not Your Spirit go forth to the air

Let Your Spirit so free, devour me

That others through me, You they might see

Lord, God, as we go and leave this place

Let others know, and see Your Face.

Talk to Me – Dave-Michael Valentine

TALK TO ME

I love you, and I need you Just pick up the phone
Unlock the door Talk to me…
I’d love to I need to
Let’s not be alone You know what we’re for
Talk to me…

I know I was wrong Let’s get back where we belong
I wouldn’t have done anything at all to hurt you
Please give me a chance Or dance our last dance
Let me hold you And love you like you wanted me to

If I wasn’t there Just a simple nightmare
Tossing and turning in your sleep And waking at night
Then we wouldn’t have shared All the times that we cared
When I held you And loved you like you wanted me to

Love can lose its voice When pride gets in the way
Silence builds a prison One word at a time
If there’s still a window open If there’s still one light
Meet me there…
We’ll let forgiveness Win tonight

I love you…

I know I was wrong Let’s get back where we belong
I wouldn’t have done anything at all to hurt you
Please give me a chance Or dance our last dance
Let me hold you And love you like you wanted me to

You don’t seem to care But I know there’s something there
We’ve been through too much To throw it all away
Talk to me… Talk to me…
I love you… (Fade.)

See Inside of You – Dave-Michael Valentine

See Inside of You

If I could see inside of you,
What would I discover there?
Quiet dreams you’ve never spoken?
Hidden joys? Forgotten prayers?

Would I find the child still laughing,
Long before the world came through?
If I could see inside your heart…
Would it recognize mine too?

If I could see inside of you,
Would love become less blind?
Would every scar begin to tell
The story of your life?
Maybe that’s what loving is…
Not seeing everything—
Just seeing enough…
To stay.

If you could see inside of me,
Past the words I sometimes hide,
Past the confidence I borrow,
Past the places fear resides…

Would you still come close beside me?
Would you choose my hand to hold?
Or would all my unfinished pieces
Be too heavy to unfold?

Maybe every heart’s a house
With rooms we rarely show.
Windows shuttered…
Lights left low…
Waiting for someone…
Who doesn’t come to judge—
Only to know.

If we could see inside each other,
Maybe we’d be slower to leave.
Quicker to forgive.
Gentler with our questions.
Kinder with our answers.
Because every heart…
Has chapters…
That never learned to speak.

Seasons Change – Dave-Michael Valentine

Seasons Change

Seasons change, lives rearrange
Everything old is new again
We still age, live in a cage
Run ’til our face is blue again

Every time I turn around
I find myself within the sound
Of life that’s gone all upside down
All smiles now turned to frown

When I can see clearly now
How can I, I don’t know how
I see how it all came undone
When we turned our backs to the sun

Heat will blaze in wintertime
Money won’t be worth one thin dime
Snow will fall in summertime
We’ll be dead most anytime

It’s a story we’ve heard before
One back from the days of yore
When Saviors walked above an ocean floor
Travelin’ with love, knockin’ on your door

Seasons change, lives rearrange
Everything old is new again
We still age, live in a cage
Run ’til our face is blue again

Every time I turn around
I find myself within the sound
Of life that’s gone all upside down
All smiles now turned to frown

When I can see clearly now
How can I, I don’t know how
I see how it all came undone
When we turned our backs to the sun

Searched the Whole World – Dave-Michael Valentine

SEARCHED THE WHOLE WORLD

I’ve searched the whole world over
To find somethin’ to set me free.
I’ve searched every corner
For somethin’ to meet my needs.
Even tried LSD.

I looked into every answer,
Every road I could find.
Read a little here and there,
Still couldn’t ease my mind.
Still I kept on searchin’.

I saw an open window,
Thought I’d take a peek.
I saw this old guy prayin’
With a Jesus freak.
Someone get me out’a here!

He started chasin’ me,
Wavin’ his Bible.
He finally caught up with me
After runnin’ about a mile.
Someone get this guy off’a me!

I didn’t have to look no more.
I found Jesus—He held the key.
After I got up off the floor,
Jesus, He set me free.
Didn’t have to look no more.

If you’ve searched every corner
For somethin’ to set you free,
If you’ve searched the whole world over
For somethin’ to meet your needs,

Jesus can set you free,
Just like He did me.
Jesus can set you free,
Just like He did me.

Didn’t have to look no more…

One Step Away – Dave-Michael Valentine

ONE STEP AWAY

There they sit,
mocking me…
beckoning me…
calling me…
to come and join them.

They sit there
in their self-righteousness,
full of knowledge and wisdom,
asserting their superiority,
hiding safely
under the bridge.

The beauty surrounds them.
It knows me too.
The rushing water…
the foliage-rich
banks of the brook.

They know
their home is my home.
As much as I try to avoid them,
the bedrolls…
the bottles…
call my name,
saying,
“Lost one…
Find your way home.
We’re waiting for you.”
Lest I forget…
that I am always…
only
one step away.

One More Sunrise – Dave-Michael Valentine

One More Sunrise

I see you’ve disappeared again.

Curled up quiet in the hallway.

Trying hard to make the whole world

Go away.

I wish I could carry

Even half the weight you bear.

I can’t promise all the answers…

But I can promise…

I’m still here.

Let’s find…

One more sunrise.

One more reason.

One more breath.

Don’t decide forever

Based on

How today has felt.

Sometimes…

Getting out of here…

Means getting through

Tonight.

Your mind keeps telling stories

That your heart was never meant to hear.

Every whisper sounds like truth

When you’re drowning in your fear.

Pain is an awful translator.

It convinces us we’re done.

But I’ve seen enough tomorrows

To believe…

Another one’s still coming.

If your strength has left,

Borrow mine.

If your hope is gone,

Borrow mine.

If your faith grows quiet,

Sit beside me

Until it learns

To speak again.

You don’t have to win today.

You don’t even have to smile.

Just promise me

You’ll stay here

For one more little while.

Sometimes healing

Doesn’t arrive

Like lightning.

Sometimes…

It sounds exactly like

Someone saying…

“I’m not leaving.”

Let’s find…

One more sunrise.

One more reason.

One more breath.

Because tomorrow

Has surprised

More people

Than yesterday

Ever believed.

One Good Reason – Dave-Michael Valentine

One Good Reason

One good reason to get out of bed.

Give me one good reason to breathe.

One good reason to believe the promises

You whispered back to me.

One good reason…

That’s all I need.

I believed you when you said

There’d never be another.

We built tomorrow with our hands,

Then watched it disappear.

I never saw the cracks beneath

The picture we had made.

Funny how forever

Can unravel in a day.

Give me…

One good reason…

To keep believing

Love still lives.

One good reason…

To stop looking backward.

One good reason…

To begin again.

Was it always in your plans

To leave before the story’s done?

Or did we simply lose ourselves

One little piece at a time?

I’m not asking you to stay

If your heart has already gone.

I’m only trying to remember

Who I was before the fall.

Maybe broken isn’t broken…

Maybe broken’s just a place

Where tomorrow

Finds a way

To let the light

Back in.

Give me…

One good reason…

And maybe

I’ll find another.

One becomes two…

Two becomes hope…

Hope becomes life.

Sometimes…

That’s enough.

On the Prowl – Dave-Michael Valentine

On the Prowl

I need a woman who’ll understand me,
Someone who’ll love me just the way I am.
She’ll have a smile that lights the evening,
She’ll steal my heart before I know she can.

Tonight’s the night – I feel it in my bones.
Maybe this time I won’t go home alone.

Here she comes…

…Nope, that’s not her.

All day,
All night,
I’m always on the prowl.
Still believing
She’s somewhere out there now.

One more smile,
One more chance,
One more turn around the town.
Till I find the one I’m looking for,
I’ll be on the prowl.

I’ve learned a little with every heartache,
Every hello, every goodbye.
Funny how dreams can change their colors
As the years keep rolling by.

Still I believe she’s somewhere waiting.
Maybe she’s wondering where I’ve been.

Could tonight be…

…Where it all begins?

All day,
All night,
I’m always on the prowl.
Looking farther,
While life keeps slowing down.

One more laugh,
One more dance,
One more chance somehow.
Till our stories meet at last,
I’ll be on the prowl.

Is she searching,
Just like me?
Passing strangers every day?

Maybe love’s been walking past us,
While we both looked the other way.

All day,
All night,
I don’t have to chase the crowd.
Love’s not something
You can hunt or track it down.

When the time
Is finally right,
Maybe she’ll find me somehow.

Till then,
I’ll keep my heart alive…

Just a man…

On the prowl.

More Than I Could Say – Dave-Michael Valentine

MORE THAN I COULD SAY

Look into my eyes, you might realize
I love you more than I could say

Look back at what we had
It wasn’t all so bad
We wonder what went wrong
As we sing our yester-song

We had it all back then
We can remember when
Our hearts joined at the seam
It’s all gone… or so it seems

When we let others in
We lost what might have been
Why’d we throw it all away?
Looking back on yesterday

Look into my eyes, you might realize
I love you more than I could say
(Repeat with harmony.)
