One More Sunrise – Dave-Michael Valentine

One More Sunrise

I see you’ve disappeared again.

Curled up quiet in the hallway.

Trying hard to make the whole world

Go away.

I wish I could carry

Even half the weight you bear.

I can’t promise all the answers…

But I can promise…

I’m still here.

Let’s find…

One more sunrise.

One more reason.

One more breath.

Don’t decide forever

Based on

How today has felt.

Sometimes…

Getting out of here…

Means getting through

Tonight.

Your mind keeps telling stories

That your heart was never meant to hear.

Every whisper sounds like truth

When you’re drowning in your fear.

Pain is an awful translator.

It convinces us we’re done.

But I’ve seen enough tomorrows

To believe…

Another one’s still coming.

If your strength has left,

Borrow mine.

If your hope is gone,

Borrow mine.

If your faith grows quiet,

Sit beside me

Until it learns

To speak again.

You don’t have to win today.

You don’t even have to smile.

Just promise me

You’ll stay here

For one more little while.

Sometimes healing

Doesn’t arrive

Like lightning.

Sometimes…

It sounds exactly like

Someone saying…

“I’m not leaving.”

Let’s find…

One more sunrise.

One more reason.

One more breath.

Because tomorrow

Has surprised

More people

Than yesterday

Ever believed.
