Life On the Line – Dave-Michael Valentine

LIFE ON THE LINE

Sometimes feeling like I’m spinnin’ my wheels
Not feeling life like it’s supposed to feel
Waiting for my life’s blood to spill
Not findin’ solace in this empty pill
Regretting life like life’s a mistake
Am I livin’ life just for my own sake?
What’s the story that my life will tell?
Is my body just an empty shell?

I wonder if I’m wasting my time
Willing to lay my life on the line
Wonder if I could change all my mind…
Would I put my life on the line?

Lookin’ for an answer to fill the void
Taking responsibility that I’ve avoided
Letting go of what I’ve concealed
Trying to stay true to how I really feel
Tell me that what I say is true
Don’t think I can make it without You
Tell me what my life will be
Without You I’m so lonely

Complexity hits me from here and there
Wonderin’ if my heart can really care
About all that this life is for
Who’s that knocking at my door?
Is my delusion my own perception?
Am I in need of my own confession?
Do I need to step in Your holy phone booth
In order just to see the truth?

I wonder if I’m wasting my time
Willing to lay my life on the line
If my story’s ever told…
Let it say…
I laid my life…
On the line.
