Let Them See You – Dave-Michael Valentine

Let Them See You

You met us here
In this holy place,
Not just with wonder…
But with grace.

You found our fear.
You knew our name.
And somehow…
We’ll never leave
The way we came.

If we’ve truly
Seen Your heart…
Then let our lives
Become…
Your hands.

Let them see You
When they look at me.
More of Your mercy.
Less of me.

Fill every word.
Guide everything I do.
If someone finds hope today…
Let them find You.

Walk beside us
Through every street.
Every stranger.
Every friend we meet.

When love is hardest…
Lead us there.
Make every moment
A whispered prayer.

Not for glory.
Not for praise.
Not for anything
We could claim.
Only Jesus.
Only You.
Living through
The lives
We choose.

Let them see You
When they look at me.
More of Your mercy.
Less of me.

Take this ordinary life Thank You, O Lord…
And make it true. For meeting us here…
If they remember Now let us carry
Anything… Your love
Let them remember You. Out there.

I’ve Got a Love – Dave-Michael Valentine

I’ve Got a Love

Keep on talkin’
Keep on walkin’
Your way into your grave
The voice is ringin’
An’ you’re still singin’
Songs that are still the rave

You’re doin’ no good
And you think you should
But you really don’t know why
Sometimes you feel alright
But you’re empty inside
As you gaze at the sky

You don’t know how
But you’ll get there somehow
At least you’re gonna try
Your efforts are in vain
If you’re still insane
Without change you’ll die

I’ve got a love for you
I think you know it’s true
You’ve got to change your life
You’ve got no place to hide

I’ve got a love for you
I think you know it’s true

You’ve got to repent
To the One that was sent
To give His life for you
Your life’s been lent
Since the veil’s been rent
Now give your life to Him, ’cause

He’s got a love for you
I think you know it’s true
He’s got a love for you
I think you know it’s true

(He’s got a love.)

Keep on playin’
I’ll keep prayin’
That His Spirit will speak to you
If you search your mind
I think you’ll find
There’s only one thing left to do

He’s paid the price
By His sacrifice
So that you might come to Him
You’ll hurt inside
‘Til you’re by His side
Right where you belong

He’ll take your sin
Make you new within
And you’ll sing a brand new song

You’ll never die
‘Cause you’re gonna fly
When the trumpet calls

I’ve got a love for you…
You’ve got to repent…
He’s got a love for you…

(Yes, I do.)

In The Son – Dave-Michael Valentine

In the Son

Leave yesterday behind,
its shadows lose their claim.
Every dawn reminds us
nothing has to stay the same.
Step out from the storm,
where fear has had its say.
Lift your eyes beyond the clouds—
there’s a brighter way.

Lay your burdens down…
morning has begun.

Stand in the Son,
where mercy shines.
Stand in the Son,
where hope comes alive.
Trade your sorrow
for the promise of tomorrow.
You’ll find rest.
You’ll be blessed.
In the Son…
In the Son.

I chased every passing light,
thinking it would satisfy.
Every road I walked alone
left another dream to die.
Then You called my name,
and everything grew clear.
Now the darkness has no claim—
Your light has brought me here.

Every sunrise whispers
that the night can’t always win.
Every new beginning
starts with letting light come in.

Stand in the Son,
where mercy shines.
Stand in the Son,
where hope comes alive.
Every step is brighter
when you’re walking in His light.
You’ll find rest.
You’ll be blessed.

Forever…
In the Son.

I’m Not From Here – Dave-Michael Valentine

I’m Not From Here

Mum an’ dad
Came from another land
On a planet, far away
Reaching their destiny

Mum an’ dad
Wanted a longer life for their lad
He’s sent to a planet, far away
Struggling with identity

Mum an’ dad
Came to me one night
They told me my story
How they thought their planet would die
They didn’t want to have to say good bye
To the son they loved so dearly
Saving my life was their concern, clearly

Many other parents
Did the same
Sending their sons and daughters here
To get a chance at a better life
So I have brothers and sisters, here
Feeling disconnected from another life

I begged them to let me come home
They told me this was a one-way escape
Don’t feel so bad cause I’m not alone
I’ve got brothers and sisters in the same shape

(break)

Our earth-parents have no clue
That we’re not really from here
They think we’re earthling, true-blue
Our hybrid future highway’s unclear

So, I’m callin’ out to my extended folks
Who share the same origin as me
You don’t have to be lonely blokes
Reunited, we’ll solve this inconsistency

To the rest of you
Don’t bother, leave us alone
We look like the best of you
We’re makin’ this planet our home
An’ we’re gonna share it with you

I’m not from here
A transplanted pioneer
My life’s so unclear
I’m not from here

I’m an Adult Now – Dave-Michael Valentine

I’M AN ADULT NOW

I can’t take it anymore
No one gives me a chance
You treat me like a child
I’ve got to take my stance
As parents you’re both second-rate
You’ll never understand
You get upset if I’m ten minutes late
And I end up getting canned

I’m an adult now I’ve got to go my own way
I’m an adult now I’m going to run away
I’m on my own now To savor the taste of life
I’m on my own now Gonna direct my own life

I’ve had it with you, “up to here”
I don’t need you anymore
You have no need to fear
I’ll let you in on the score
I’ll drop you a line
After I’ve spent some time
When I settle down
In a faraway little town

Maybe someday we’ll both look back
Through older, kinder eyes
We’ll see that love and stubborn pride
Can wear the same disguise
I’ll always be your son somehow
No matter where I roam
Sometimes you have to leave a place
Before you understand it’s home

I’m an adult now I’ve got to go my own way
I’m an adult now No one’s gonna stand in my way
I’m on my own now To savor the taste of life
I’m on my own now Learning how to live my own life

I’m an adult now…

I Want to Know Him

I Want to Know Him

I want to know Him,
But it seems that no one tries.
Why don’t they show Him?
O Lord, please hear my cries.
Lord, please fill my eyes.

I lie awake most every night,
Just longing to know You.
I need someone to help me find
What’s real, and what is true.

Chorus

I want to know Him,
But it seems that no one tries.
Why don’t they show Him?
O Lord, please hear my cries.
Lord, please fill my eyes.

Verse 2

Then I met a gentle man
Whose body had been worn.
Yet when he smiled and looked at me,
A brand-new hope was born.

There was something in his kindness,
Something words could never say.
For the very first time in my life,
I saw love on display.

Chorus

I want to know Him,
But it seems that no one tries.
Why don’t they show Him?
O Lord, please hear my cries.
Lord, please fill my eyes.

Bridge

He said that Jesus loved me—
The Life, the Truth, the Way.
But more than all the words he spoke,
His love showed me the way.

Final Chorus

Now I know Him,
And I’ll tell everyone.
Yes, I’ll show Him,
Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

Now I know Him,
And I’ll tell everyone.
Yes, I’ll show Him,
Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

Lord, keep filling my eyes…

So others may see You…

Through mine.

I Should Have Known

I should have seen you walkin’ around
I should have seen you all over town
Eager to please
Guys drop to their knees

I should have known that you knew it all
I should have known that you’d make me fall
Thought I was your one
But I was just fun

I could have avoid all this mistake
I could have waited for our wedding cake
Then I’d have known
Your heart was a stone

You got to play all the players in town
Leaving them all, all gagged and bound
One day you’ll see
What it’s cracked up to be

I should have known that you were just fakin’
I should have known that my heart would be breakin’
I should have known that my mind was mistakin’
I should have known that you’d toss all you’d take in
I should have known that my mind had been blown
I should have known you were yours all alone
I should have known you were too good to be true
I should have known that you’d do what you’d do
I should have known that you’d be what you’d be
I should have known that you’d sacrifice me
I should have known your true colors had shown
I should have known what I should have known

I should have known that you knew it all
I should have known that you’d make me fall
Thought I was your one
But I was just fun

I should have known it was you all along
I should have known you’d be in this song
Now that I know
I still love you so

Here They Come – Dave-Michael Valentine

Here They Come

I’m so clean
a Christian machine
every hair is in place
It never fails
I’ve got perfect nails
won’t find no pimple on my face
but there’s a kind’a folk
well, they drink and smoke
an’ they turn my belly
they sniff glue
some even chew
but they’re all goin’ t’ hell

Oh, no.
Here they come
why, there’s a whole mob of ’em
black leather jackets hung on some
bleck, I know they’re scum

they’re chasin’ me
they’re after me
you watch, one will throw a rock
if they catch me, they’ll probably kill me
even though they say, “We just wanna talk.”

oh, no.
Here they come…

They’re gettin’ closer
an’ they’re lookin’ grosser
Then one grabs my arm
“We just want to ask some questions.
We really mean no harm.”

Oh, no.
Here they come…

“I’m sure that this would seem pretty odd.
Please excuse our behavior.
But you see, we heard that you knew God,
and we’re in dire need of a savior.”

(Oh, Lord…
What have I done?
To separate myself from them
when I might have been the only way
that You could get to know them.
Father forgive me.)

Well, God used that disaster.
I led them to the Lord.
Now I wanted them to meet my pastor.
As we neared the door,
I heard him say,

Oh, no.
Here they come
why, there’s a whole mob of ’em
black leather jackets hung on some
blech, I know they’re scum
they’re chasin’ me
they’re after me
you watch, one will throw a rock
if they catch me, they’ll probably kill me
even though they say, “We just wanna talk.”
oh, no.
Here they come…
They’re gettin’ closer
an’ they’re lookin’ grosser
Then one grabs my arm
“We just want to ask some questions.
We really mean no harm.”
Oh, no.
Here they come…

Good Life – Dave-Michael Valentine

GOOD LIFE

You’ve discovered the good life Footloose and fancy-free
You hear horror stories of others But that couldn’t happen to me

You live life like you want to Stayin’ loose and gettin’ high
When will you find out the cost Of the truth behind the lie?

When you take your life into your own hands What do you really do?
Like castles built upon the sand What will happen to you?

Will you wait until it’s too late?
Will you wait until it’s too late?
Or will you see where you need to be?
Will you wait until it’s too late?
Or will you see where you need to be?
With your initials carved in the tree…

Every road looks easy When the sun is shining bright
But every choice is building Tomorrow’s wrong or right
The seeds we plant in secret Become the lives we live
The heart is always harvesting Whatever we choose to give

Will you wait until it’s too late?
Will you wait until it’s too late?
Or will you see where you need to be?
Will you wait until it’s too late?
Or will you see where you need to be?
With your initials carved in the tree…
(Repeat)
